At our clinic, we are committed to providing only the most effective treatments for verrucae, firmly rooted in solid research evidence supporting their effectiveness. We offer two advanced treatment options: SWIFT Microwave Therapy and the Faulkner’s Needling Technique. Our decision to forgo treatments such as freezing, acid treatments, and caustic therapy is grounded in our dedication to delivering care that is both efficacious and supported by scientific research.
SWIFT Microwave Therapy is a state-of-the-art treatment for verrucae, employing microwave energy to precisely target and eliminate verrucae at the source. This method is non-invasive, with each session lasting only a few seconds, and typically requires 2-4 treatments for optimal results. The energy delivered by the SWIFT machine stimulates a natural immune response, promoting healing from within. It’s an effective, safe option with minimal discomfort and no requirement for dressings or specific post-treatment care. SWIFT is ideally suited for patients seeking a non-invasive solution with a series of brief treatments.
Contrastingly, the Faulkner’s Needling Technique offers a different approach. This minimally invasive procedure involves using a fine needle to puncture the verruca multiple times under local anesthesia, activating the body’s immune system to recognize and combat the virus more effectively. It is particularly effective for persistent verrucae, often requiring just one treatment, although some cases may need a second session. Despite being more invasive than SWIFT, the Faulkner’s Needling Technique is highly effective, especially for those verrucae that have not responded to other forms of treatment.
The choice between SWIFT Microwave Therapy and Faulkner’s Needling Technique depends on several factors, including the nature and persistence of the verruca, patient preference regarding invasiveness, and the desired number of treatments. SWIFT is preferred for those looking for a non-invasive, gentle approach that aligns with busy lifestyles, requiring multiple short sessions.
On the other hand, the Faulkner’s Needling Technique is an excellent option for those seeking a more definitive, albeit slightly more invasive, solution, often resolved in one or two treatments.
Our clinic’s approach to treating verrucae is deeply informed by scientific evidence and a profound understanding of podiatric medicine. By focusing on these specialized treatments, we ensure our patients receive the highest standard of care, tailored to their unique needs. Whether opting for the innovative SWIFT Microwave Therapy or the effective Faulkner’s Needling Technique, our patients benefit from our commitment to safety, effectiveness, and comfort.
We aim to not only address the symptoms but also tackle the underlying causes of verrucae, ensuring a comprehensive healing journey.
It is not uncommon for patients to feel a sharp sensation, similar to an injection. Unlike most treatments for verruca, pain felt during the treatment quickly subsides, and only in rare cases is there any prolonged pain.
In some cases the treated area may feel sore but will not usually prevent undertaking your normal daily activities
This is dependent on how you respond to treatment. In some cases, you may require a course of treatment (treatment regime is determined by your clinician and your Podiatrist will be able to discuss this with you)
We still offer medicated treatments e.g caustic treatments and freeze. SWIFT outweighs needling in terms of effectiveness. The evidence base for SWIFT is growing and is proving to be a safe and effective option.
With a few exceptions, most people with skin lesions would be able to have this treatment. Swift is not recommended for use on diabetic patients, patients with implanted electronic devices or electrodes or for use close to metallic objects (i.e. metal foot implants, jewellery etc)
"Travelled a long way up to Belfast a few months ago to get verruca needling after years of other fruitless attempts of verruca removal in the Republic. So so happy that they are finally gone. It only took one 15 minute session, and now several months later the immune system has completely fought off the verrucas. Not only that but the service itself was brilliant.
It was pain free , and Paul also very kindly gave me more than enough free cash so I wasn’t stuck without sterling for the bus. It was so worth the price - I’d recommend it as a first port of call for verruca removal as it is easy to spend hundreds on fruitless attempts in the Republic, where needling (involving anesthetic) is not possible"Sharon Rourke
